Session Overview
Many organizations begin the year with new ideas from conferences, planning sessions and conversations with partners. The harder work is deciding what to act on. Commitments to reconciliation and Indigenous inclusion need clear priorities, shared responsibility and sustained action, and without a defined focus, good intentions can scatter across too many directions.
This session opens the 2027 webinar series by helping participants assess where their organization is today: how Indigenous people come in, whether they stay, and whether they are supported to grow. Participants will identify one realistic priority for the year ahead and consider who needs to be involved, how relationships can inform that priority and what internal support is needed to carry it forward.
What You'll Take Away
- A practical approach to identifying an Indigenous inclusion priority
- Questions to assess organizational needs, relationships, readiness and capacity across recruitment, retention and advancement
- Considerations for involving the right people, assigning responsibility and maintaining momentum
Who Should Attend
This session is designed for executives, human resources professionals, managers, Indigenous inclusion practitioners and others involved in organizational planning and workplace inclusion. No previous knowledge of the topic is required.
Where This Work Continues
Choosing a priority is the easier part. Carrying it through the year is where many organizations lose momentum. Indigenous Works offers an inclusion diagnostic that shows where your organization sits on the Inclusion Continuum and helps shape a realistic plan. If you have training or advisory funds to commit before your fiscal year closes, this is a good time to talk with us.
