Session Overview
Red Dress Day on May 5 honours Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ People and calls attention to the ongoing impacts on families, Survivors and communities. This webinar continues the conversation later in the month, recognizing that awareness and responsibility must extend beyond a single day.

The National Inquiry's Calls for Justice provide direction for governments, institutions, industries and individuals, including specific Calls for the extractive and resource development industries and Calls for all Canadians. This session will explore how the Calls for Justice connect to workplace policy, safety, leadership and accountability, and how employers can move from awareness toward informed and sustained action.

What You'll Take Away

  • A stronger understanding of the purpose and significance of the Calls for Justice
  • Considerations for connecting the Calls for Justice, including those directed to industry, to workplace responsibilities and practices
  • Questions to help move organizational responses beyond awareness and symbolic action

Who Should Attend
This session is designed for executives, human resources professionals, managers, Indigenous inclusion practitioners and others responsible for workplace safety, policy, employee support or organizational accountability. No previous knowledge of the topic is required.

Care Note
This session includes discussion of colonial violence, racism and the ongoing impacts experienced by Indigenous women, girls, Two-Spirit people, families and communities. Participants are encouraged to consider what support they may need before, during and after the session. No participant will be asked to share personal or family experiences.

Where This Work Continues
The Calls for Justice ask more of organizations than a single session can hold. Indigenous Works' cultural safety and humility training helps leaders and teams build the understanding and everyday practices that support safer workplaces. Advisory support is also available to review policies through that lens.
